Nana Patekar Opens Up : “I Don’t Like Vidhu Vinod Chopra”

The 1989 crime thriller “Parinda” brought together a star-studded cast featuring Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, and Madhuri Dixit Nene. However, the film’s legacy is overshadowed by reported tension between director Vidhu Vinod Chopra and actor Nana Patekar.

The film itself follows the story of two brothers on opposite sides of a gang war. When a psychotic crime boss (played by Nana Patekar) murders the friend of the other brother (played by Anil Kapoor), their loyalty and brotherhood are tested.

Nana Patekar Expresses Discontent with Director

In a recent interview, Nana Patekar openly criticized Vidhu Vinod Chopra, revealing their on-set disagreements. Nana Patekar disliked Chopra’s directing methods, specifically his aggressive use of the word “action” which he felt disrupted the actors’ focus.

News reports claim that tensions escalated further when Vidhu Vinod Chopra allegedly demanded the cast bring their own food. This reportedly angered Patekar, leading to a heated argument and even physical confrontation where Chopra tore Nana Patekar’s shirt.

Despite the reported animosity, Nana Patekar has continued his acting career. He recently appeared in director Vivek Agnihotri’s “The Vaccine War,” a film depicting India’s fight against COVID-19.
