Deepika Padukone, a powerhouse performer known for her versatility, is gearing up for the release of her first Telugu film, “Kalki 2898 AD.” The sci-fi extravaganza, directed by Nag Ashwin, boasts a star-studded cast including Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Disha Patani, and Kamal Haasan. Set in a post-apocalyptic future, the film promises to be a visual spectacle and will release across multiple languages on June 27th.
This Telugu debut has naturally sparked questions about Deepika’s future involvement in South Indian cinema. During a promotional event, Deepika expressed her openness to working in Telugu films again, stating, “Sure. If the audience would like me then sure.”
Meanwhile, director Nag Ashwin has clarified that “Kalki 2898 AD,” while drawing inspiration from the Mahabharata, doesn’t directly depict any revered Hindu deities. He describes the film as a story about a powerful individual who finds guidance and purpose.
