Swara Bhaskar Speaks Up for Interfaith Couples, Defends Sonakshi Sinha’s Marriage

Swara Bhaskar, a Bollywood actress, recently spoke out about the challenges faced by couples in interfaith marriages in India. Her comments come amidst rumors of actress Sonakshi Sinha’s upcoming wedding with Zaheer Iqbal.

Drawing from her own experience marrying activist Fahad Ahmad, Bhaskar shed light on the societal disapproval and online trolling she endured. She emphasized the need to debunk myths like “love jihad” and condemned the discrimination faced by interfaith couples.

Bhaskar highlighted the dangers some couples face, including violence on Valentine’s Day. She strongly defended Sonakshi and Zaheer’s right to privacy and their choice to live together, have a court marriage, or a traditional ceremony.

Predicting future scrutiny, Bhaskar even suggested the couple might face criticism when they have children. However, she confirmed reports of a post-wedding celebration with close family and friends, possibly attended by celebrities like Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar.

Sonakshi and Zaheer, reportedly dating for seven years, are expected to tie the knot on June 23rd in Mumbai. They previously collaborated in the film “Double XL.”
